Yesterday was fairly busy. I got up early and put the towels in the wash and took care of the dog. After that I decided to go to the early morning church service. We don’t go every week, but I felt like going this week. It was interesting. I like the church, the pastors don’t push any kind of political agenda and focus on teaching the Bible and having people understand it in ways that everyone can understand. After church we came home and I did some more laundry and cleaned the house. Afterwards, I went outside and started a bonfire so that I could burn a pile of paper bags and sticks that have been building up. It took about three hours to finish. I then came inside, took a shower and made supper, which was cheese and herb flatbread pizza. The pizza was surprisingly good. I was surprised, considering I don’t usually eat that kind of pizza, let alone a flatbread one.
Last week I read Still Alice by Lisa Genova. I read it when it first came out and really enjoyed it. My work was weeding out books and got rid of all over Genova’s books plus a couple others that I’ve been meaning to check out and read but never did, so I brought them home after marking them as discards. That’s a benefit to working at a library–I can pick out books being weeded to take home if I want to keep them. I also finished reading the third book in the Bregdan Chronicles series and The Serial Killer Cookbook.
I enjoyed the books but now I’m not sure what I want to read next. I’m part of the way into book 8 of the Virgin River series. It’s a good series but I hadn’t read them in a while. It’s a series that gets to sound the same after a while. Other than that, I’m having a hard time getting into books these days. I go all out into reading then get bored and don’t know what else to read.
Speaking of books, I decided to give up checking out books from the library for the Lenten season. I don’t particularly follow the religious traditions but I’ve always wanted to participate in Lent for some reason and give something up, so I decided to do that. If my husband wants something from the library, I’ll get it for him, but I won’t get anything for myself. I’m also trying to limit my social media use and enjoying what I have at home. I have plenty of books that I’m trying to catch up on and want to read those first instead of checking them out at the library. So far, I’m doing pretty good.
I did a thirty minute yoga practice yesterday and it felt pretty good. I’m glad that I’m keeping up with yoga for the most part since January. I’m seeing a big difference in flexibility and strength. It doesn’t feel like that a lot of the time, but sometimes I can notice a difference.
At work on Saturday we had a dinosaur tea party. My co-worker’s twins came in to help out. One was in the dinosaur costume and the other helped with the tattoos. There was ring tosses and drinks and snacks and other crafts in the back meeting room that they could work on. A lot of the kids enjoyed the dinosaur day. Some liked the dinosaur and others weren’t sure of it, and some warmed up to it. Generally it was a good day. I’ll have to post a picture of it sometime.
