If at birth you could select the profession your child would eventually pursue, would you do so?
In a way, it would be nice because then I can be certain that my child would succeed and have a stable life long after I was gone, but a lot of parents choose their children’s professions now, especially if they’re in successful careers and want their children to follow in their footsteps. Sometimes the children love the profession that their parents are into and others absolutely loathe it, especially considering they felt pressured to do that job.
So, in the end, I don’t think I’d select my child’s profession. As long as they’re happy at what they’re doing and they can support themselves, then they can choose whatever it is they want to do. They don’t have to do a job that necessarily makes 6 figures, but if it makes their life comfortable, then so be it.
