Paul over at The Captain’s Speech does quizzes every once and a while, so I decided to do his most recent one called Summer Side Up. I’d never done one before or even seen them pop up before so I decided to finally participate.
The 10 Questions
You are going camping at a campground for four days and three nights. Does this excite you, or fill you with dread? Explain.
Before I met my husband, I never went camping so I didn’t think I’d like it. But now that I’ve gone camping a few times with him, I’ve realized I enjoyed it, so I’d be excited to camp for four days and three nights. The only thing that I’d not like is if they don’t have shower rooms or if the toilets are just a hole in the ground and fairly stinky.
They say that, “Sally sells seashells by the seashore”. How much money do you think Sally makes on a Saturday in July, and do you think her business should be set up elsewhere?
I bet on a good day, she makes at least $500. But considering the beaches are becoming more commercialized, she’d have more competition, especially since people like to look for shells on the beach by themselves, so I’d say a good $200. She could set up shop elsewhere, but then she’d have to take into account the cost of transporting her goods and that’d make the shells more expensive, so no, she should stay where she is.
The ideal temperature for sleep is approximately 18°C (65°F). What are five tips you have for staying cool while sleeping?
I’d say cooler sheets because even in the summer I like having the sheets around me. Also, if you have central air, then you should put it on a good temperature that fits for you. Or keep the windows open.
In Season 4 of The O.C., Summer Roberts adopts a pet rabbit and names her Pancakes. What animal would you adopt and what breakfast food would you name it after?
I like rabbits too and we even thought about adopting a rabbit recently. If I adopted a rabbit and had to name it after food, I’d probably name it Bun for Bunny. Or Pumpkin. I don’t know what you’d name a rabbit. I also said that if I ever got guinea pigs, I’d name them Peanut and Butter after the Reese cups. So there’s that.
SummerSlam is an annual professional wrestling event produced by the WWE. Thinking of yourself as a wrestler, provide the following information: your wrestling name, your character traits, your catchphrase, and the name of your most devastating maneuver.
I don’t know because I’m not into wrestling. 😛
What is a frozen dessert you enjoy eating outside? On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the messiest), how messy is it?
I enjoy Italian Ice, though I don’t get it much. I’d say it’s a 4 on the messy scale. It’s not messy until it starts melting and getting sticky. My next one is a milkshake. I’d say it’s a 4 too.
You are standing in an above ground swimming pool and your sunglasses fall to the bottom. How do you retrieve them?
I’d hold my breath and swim to the bottom to grab them. Above ground swimming pools generally aren’t very deep so it’d be easy to swim down and grab them.
“Walking on Sunshine” is an upbeat song by Katrina And The Waves. What songs would be on your summer playlist?
Probably some Shania Twain and Lindsay Stirling. I haven’t kept up on music lately so it’s mostly 90’s country music and whatever my husband listens to. Also 2 Cellos would be on there.
What are the pros and cons of patio dining?
You get to sit outside and eat and enjoy the scenery and have a nice breeze. Downside: mosquitos and other bugs.
What is a summer job you have had and how long did you remain friends/in-touch with your co-workers after the job ended?
I never had a summer job. I started working at the library when I was 17 and didn’t stop working there until 2 years ago. Now I work at another library and have been there for almost 2 years.
You have entered the food truck business. Tell me about your new venture and your strategy to dominate the market.
I’d be selling comfort food–chicken, hot dogs, fries, hamburgers. I’d travel around the surrounding areas during their busiest times so I can get all the people I want and I’d use social media to tell people where I am.
You are going on a summer road trip and can take one person with you. It can be absolutely anyone. Tell me about the trip.
I’d take my husband and if dogs are allowed on this trip, then my dog as well. We’re taking a road trip west to get onto route 66 and find our way to the grand canyon. We stop every few hours to use the restroom and get something to eat and we’ll be arguing about who’s driving. He’d want music and I’d have to search my phone for something to listen to and keep us awake.
What are some of your favourite summer memories?
In 2019, my husband had come back from basic training/AIT was looking for a full time job. In the meantime, we traveled the area going to museums and parks and eating at different restaurants. We did a lot of Pokemon Go and went hiking a lot. We even went to North Carolina with his family. It was fun.
