Setting Myself Up for Torture.

I recently mentioned my recent dive into Colleen Hoover’s books. I started with Verity because I heard it was a crazy story and not her usual romance novel. Because I’m not big into romances (in spite of reading some Virgin River novels), I thought I’d give this one a go, just to say that I’ve read her. Needless to say, the book wasn’t that well written. Oh, the mechanics of writing were there, and yet the actual story needed some more work. Maybe, dare I say it, an overhaul.

So after finishing it and raging over it for a couple of hours, I decided to pick up another book by the author called It Ends With Us. The reason I did this was because I wanted to get a feel for one of her usual books, so to speak. Verity was supposed to be a suspense/thriller in comparison to her romance novels so I wanted to give her one more chance. I’m 74 pages into this new book and so far it’s not much better. Sure, the main character is slightly improved but the male interest is terrible and even the main character is hard to connect with.

I’m just glad that I didn’t pay for these books, because I probably would have if they hadn’t been returned to the library in time. And then I would have been super mad. I might be writing about this new book I’m reading, I might not. We’ll see.
